About the Painted Violins Raffle

Cultivating the next generation's love for classical music.

In 2018, the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra announced the establishment of the Annapolis Symphony Academy, founded and directed by  the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster Dr. Netanel Draiblate. And in order to ensure the Academy is set up for success, the Friends of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra (FASO) organized the 2018 Annapolis Painted Violins Raffle.

Ten local professional artists painted striking designs on violins donated by the Anne Arundel County Public Schools, in order to support the Annapolis Symphony’s new Academy, an immersive program for local youths who have a love of music and a desire to learn how to play classical instruments.

Dr. Draiblate hopes to inspire a diverse group of middle school-aged musicians as they are taught in private lessons, workshops and in ensembles by leading ASO musicians who have a passion for teaching.

The Painted Violins will be displayed in local art galleries, restaurants, educational and cultural venues in and around Anne Arundel County, September through December, so the public can view the the violins in person.
